Secular consecration
Contemplation of the Mysteries of Christ impels us to a choice of life which, as consecrated laywomen, enables us to share in full the concreteness of our surroundings and our times, to share situations of suffering, malaise, outcasting, etc., because there as well we are able to discover the Father's presence and His love.

Remaining in the secular state by free choice, our consecration to God requires a call from God and a total, generous and constant response on our part. We are sustained by grace and fidelity to God in our commitment to become ever more like Christ and to serve Him in our openness towards all.

The bonds of consecration according to the Evangelical Counsels are expressed in the life of the individual, and they help her to achieve self-fulfillment in the completeness of her act of giving:

  • The gift of consecrated celibacy becomes freedom of heart for openness to universal love.
  • Readiness to seek and do what is pleasing to the Father in both daily life situations and in moments of important decisions is the expression of obedience lived as gift.
  • Recognizing and loving the poor Jesus in our fellowmen leads to interior liberty, solidarity, and detachment from what we are and have, summoning us to evangelical poverty lived as laypersons.

In order to live this ideal proposed to us in the Constitution, our life as a whole must seek and find balance and harmony in prayer. To this end we are prone to live in intimity with the Lord: in filial communion with the Father, in a dynamic and personal relationship with the Son, and ever attentive to the Spirit. Our prayer also springs forth from life itself, from contacts with our fellowmen, from what at times is their unconscious reaching out for God, and from the expectations and hopes we share with others.
The Word of God, the Eucharist, the Sacraments, and love for the Virgin Mary constitute indispensable nourishment for being able to live our consecration in fidelity to God and to humankind.
Mary, the mother of Jesus and our mother, embraced her Son's mission for humankind. She teaches us to live consecration in the world and to love with boundless dedication.
