Signs of vocation:
understanding of the calling
Whoever may feel a calling to secular consecration in service to those who suffer, and wishes to respond to the love of God, must discover the signs of this spirituality whose seeds the Lord has most certainly sown within her. The response to God's call may become concrete in the journey towards the Institute if some of the following essential elements strike a chord in your heart and mind:
  • you wish to share reality and every situation with others in order to be concrete in expressing the certainty that nothing may separate us from the God's love, and that in no matter what situation, work or surroundings, the Gospel may not only be lived, but may really become a fundamental criterion for enhancing positive aspects and transforming negative ones;
  • you wish your life itself, above and beyond what you may do, to be a response of love to the gratuitous love of God which transforms the limited gift of a human being into infinite good for humankind;
  • you are willing to revisit and challenge your own way of looking at things in order to acquire a vision of life in ever closer unison with the Gospel;
  • you wish to be a presence of service and hope alongside any persons in difficulty in order to alleviate their sufferings, and, when that isn't possible, to share those sufferings and enhance them in the light of the sufferings of Christ.

For this awareness it is essential :

  • to pray the Spirit so He may grant you clarity and perseverance;
  • to dialogue with a person who is familiar with our aspirations and the diverse charisms in the Church, and may be able to help you in your discernment.

Consecration in secularity demands a true vocation in order to be able to live the concreteness of daily life joyfully and in full, ever at the service of God and our fellowmen.
